tumor in breast

I am 37 years of age and my mom's sister died of breast cancer in 98.  I had my first mammogram in 10/2008 which resulted in an abnormal reading and subsequently had an ultrasound of the right breast.  That came back clean.  I had other health isssues and simply crossed it out of my "Health worries list"  This year (March 18, 2010) I had my second mammogram and an ultrasound of both breast.  This resulted in me having 3 cyst in my left breast and two in my right breast along with a tumor measuring 1.2 cm.  Apparently this tumor was in the first ultrasound and measured 1 cm which means it has slightly grown in a little over a year.  The doctor told me it was benign and I should simply follow up in a year.  I explained to her that I have clear discharge in the left breast and pain in the armpit and around my back.  She said it was due to the cyst and continued to say lets follow up in a year. The report officialy stated;" 7:00 position there is a 6mm hypoechoic nodule which appears solid and probably representative of a small fibroadenoma."  My concern is if I just sit and wait for something to grow?  I figured she should have done a biopsy to rule out anything bad.  Can anyone help????

lilly, I saw this response some time ago , and it's taken from the expert forum in relation to breast discharge. I copied this paragraph for you.

'The following are general parameters. The time to worry about nipple discharge is when it�s spontaneous (comes out by itself without squeezing), keeps on happening, is only on one side, and/or if it is clear and sticky, like an egg white, or bloody. If these symptoms are present a doctor should check you.'

Thank you for your help.  As for the discharge, it is only on one side and it varies from clear to a milky thick substance and has been ongoing for a long time.  I scheduled an appointment with another doctor just so I can have a second opinion.  I'm hoping to at least have a biopsy done so I can rule anything bad!!!!
