Thank you for your answer. At least I know I have some justification to consider asking for reconsideration beyond Femara.
I also have very low positivity with K67 though it is stage 1, grade 1 idc, and dcis and low Oncotype score. I have a gut feeling it is not all removed and feel helpless as the oncologist just dismissed my concerns over the margin an read the final path report cover page as clear and said just put that away, you do not need radiation, pet scans (he thinks they are ineffective and will not be monitoring me with them or anything except bloodwork as he says it's just preventative) I feel overlooked and dismissed and a very persistant dragging, fatigue and sadness that this is not resolved.
Hi there.
I believe that the deep margins are too close to the cancer cells, being only 0.3 cm or 3mm away from the resection area. I think that the recommended margins in your situation would at least be 0.5 to 1cm from the tumor cells.
Options for this close margins would include repeat resection (though most people and doctors would opt not to push through with this procedure), and adjuvant radiation therapy to the chest wall (usually more acceptable to most patients) to decrease the chance of locoregional recurrence.
Regards.
