Dear PYAster:  Fibroadenoma is the most common benign (non-cancerous) tumor of the breast and the most common breast tumor in women less than 30 years of age. Fibroadenomas are usually found as solitary lumps, but about 10-15% of women have multiple lumps that may affect both breasts.  Black women tend to develop fibroadenomas more frequently and at an earlier age than white women. The cause of fibroadenoma is not known.

It is best to discuss your symptoms and concerns with your doctor who can evaluate them and make appropriate recommendations.  Over the internet without ability to ask questions and perform a physical exam it is difficult to advise you regarding your symptoms.

I also had a lump removed which turned out to be 'stromal fibrosis'.. it came back within 2 months and i had it removed again... the first surgery was a year ago and the 2nd 4mths ago... the breast is still very tender I have the occasional pain in the area of removal... and both times there was a density near the cut after surgery which I felt and was picked up on breast ultrasound... when I did searches on the net for my particular condition a year ago there was nothing much... now a year later there is more and I have decided to do a double mastectomy because it has taken up a year of my life in and out of doctors offices...

thanks so much for the information.

VictoriaMia, your case sounds bad. Anyway, it's a good one compared to cancerious cells. I'm worried even more after reading this, but really thanks VictoriaMia for sharing with me, so I could monitor the "mass" continuously and think for getting an ultrasound as soon before reaching the time frame of one year. wish, you will stay healthy and pretty after this :)

Now, the breast pain is relieved much, but it's still there. The pain has moved throughout my breast, don't know whether it's a good sign or not. When i pressed my breast gently this evening, i found that the sharp pain was actually not coming from the "mass under the scar" (although it's stil pain now, just has relieved abit), it's from 6 o'clock area, right under the curve of my breast. It sounds so much like VictoriaMia's case now, but I really don't want to get another operation, especially for the same wound! (if I could have the choice) For this time, the mass that I'm feeling sharp pain from, is similarly existed for the other breast, too. Is that pain just because I have had a too heavy self check? I hope so and nothing else.

Can breast massage or exercise actually get rid of accumulations of plaque within the breast?

Hi there - good to hear you had a fibroadenoma and not bc, as it can, rarely, thankfully, happen in very young women.

I had a lumpectomy 4 yrs ago for an invasive ductal carcinoma, with DCIS, and it has taken a long time for my breast to settle down, without pain and sensitivity. Any trauma to the body, through surgery, will take some time for the soft tissue to settle down, so don't worry unnecessarily. Just make sure you get checked out regularly.
Take care,
Liz.

I'm certainly no expert, but I've had trouble with scar tissue forming under my incisions. It feels like a lump with somewhat irregular borders. It took years (more than 5) for it to not bother me when I pressed on it and when I lay on my stomach. It never bothers me unless I press on it though. I also find after CBE exams and mammograms I have shooting pains in my breasts. I assume that's from the pressure put on the breast tissue. I hope your problems turn out to be something simple like this.

thanks for the comment! hope it's just what you said, nothing serious will happen :) but i believe close monitor is still neccesary, 20% of bengin patient will suffer from recurrance, it's 1 out of 5!

to lizziecee and Montana girl, don't forget to get a check up once in a while :) hope nothing seious will come to us ever again.
