unusual hardness and swelling

After radiotherapy, I developed a hardness and redness, together with pain, on the inner side of the breast, away from the surgical intrusion. Also I have sharp pains from where the lymph nodes were removed. These symptoms come and go. It is nearly four months since completing radiotherapy treatment

Dear kassy:  It is difficult, without reviewing your situation, to determine the exact cause of the redness and hardness.  However, there are a couple of things you might consider.   Both surgery and radiotherapy can cause scar tissue to develop.  Although scar tissue is not usually red, it can feel hard and become tight or painful.  These pains can also come and go, to some extent.  Redness can also be a sign of inflammation, which usually happens during radiation and lasts beyond its completion
