update on ca 27.29 marker

Thank you for answering my inquiry regarding the ca 27.29 test.  Today I called the dr's office and learned my wife's tumor marker came back at 28!!!  The nurse said she could not explain the drop (from 87 post-op) but said she was very happy to pass along the news.  Could this be due to a post-op delay in the tumor marker drop?  Either way we are very pleased with the news.

Dear manson:  As we mentioned before, the use of 27.29 as a tumor marker for breast cancer is controversial.  Many practices do not use the test because it is too difficult to know how to interpret the information.  I can't say why the marker dropped but it is good news, nonetheless.

.I am pregnant and have also been diagnosed with advanced stage breast cancer.  Is there anyway to track ca 27.29 during pregnancy.  I have already hand 4 rounds of Chemo.  The marker keeps going up not down.  Thank you.
