Ultrsound reports states: "presence of a small hypoechoic mass believed to represent a cyst...measures about 3mm in diameter - no other abnormalities seen...no solid lesions are evident. Bi-rads category 2..." (Cat. 2 =benign finding)
I am 49 years old. I have not had trouble with this area until this week when, during my menstrual period, it became much larger, red, swollenSwollen glands and tender. I called my GYN but have not heard back from her. As I am moving out of this week, it seems to be going down a bit, but is not as small as it was when I had the exam.
Malignant lesions do NOT come and go but cysts and sometimes Fibroadenomas do ... if there were some concern about this being anything but a cyst you would have been referred to another Dr. for follow-up investigation or treatment. Hypoechoic simply means that fewer waves were reflected than would normally be expected and anything can produce either fewer or more echos to be reflected. Regards ....
