will i develop breast cancer

by mrsmdd, Jul 02, 2009 12:39PM
i have had numberous mammos, mri, ultrasound and a biospy.  The results were that i have:

florid duct hyperplasi with severe atypia
proliferative fibrocystic changes
intraductal papolloma with atypia
linearly oriented microcalcifiction in the deep left lateral breast near the chest wall

but no one can tell me my chances of developing breast cancer, i was told to have mri twice a year and yearly mammos, but i'm really concerned about this because i dont think its enough. i have seen two different breast surgeons.

This discussion is related to Focal Florid Duct Hyperplasia.

No one can tell you whether you will develop breast cancer in the future .... even though you ceraintly have numerous risk factors. I know of nothing else that you could do other than what has been recommended. You might ask to be tested for the Breast Cancer Gene and if positive some women consider bilat. mastectomy. That of course would be an entirely personal decision and should be approved by at least 2 Surgeons. Regards ....
