worried about a new dimple

I am 28 years old and so far no family history of breast cancer. Although i usually have really sore painful breasts right before, and during my period, the pain did not subside after my period was over, like it normally would. Both breasts are still sore, and my right one not only hurts more, there is also a new dimple which showed up last nite. I thought it was marks from my bra at first, but it didnt go away this morning. When i lift up my arm i can see it. I am terrified...I called my doctor and scheduled an appointment, but everything i've been reading online so far, indicates dimpling is an early sign of cancer!!! please help! Also, does breast size have anything to do with cancer risk?

Dear missf:  Dimpling can be associated with an underlying malignancy but having a dimple does not automatically mean cancer.  It does mean that further evaluation is recommended to determine what testing, if any, needs to be done.  You have done the right thing in scheduling an appointment with your physician because without evaluation, it is impossible to make any meaningful recommendations.  Breast size has no correlation to cancer risk.
