worried after breast biopsy

worried after breast biopsy

I had a suegical breast biopsy on Mon. I am worried because I have developed a bloody black discharge and today is Sat. Does this seem normal? Is it from the bruising or something to be concerned with? Help!

Dear mackenzi:  Without examination, it is impossible for us to speculate on the cause of this discharge.  However, since you recently had a surgical biopsy, it is possible that this is the cause of the discharge.  You should let your surgeon know and he/she can better determine whether this is expected and what should be done for follow-up, if anything.

It sounds like old blood (thus the darkness). As long as you don't have a fever or excessive bleeding, it sounds okay.

Thanks for the reply. This is all very nerve racking. My biopsy shows that I have atypical hyperplasia. I guess I will find out more about that when I go back to the Dr.

I am 37 years old, from what I have read about atypical hyperplasia it sounds like I am high risk. Can you give me any information on what AH is, the risks and if at my age what is the chance of me getting breast cancer. My grandmother died of breast cancer and my cousin has metasis(spelling ?) I have heard your risk can be less if your choose to have bilateral mastectomy with reconstruction, is that true? Any information would be helpful. The websites I have looked at are pretty vague. Thanks.

Is it very normal to have sharp pains after any surgery, even months later.
I had a large fibroid removed, and continually had pains for quite awhile afterward. I think it happens even more in tender areas, such as the breast
