Chloe is 2 1/2 months and she's still BF. She eats whenever she feels like it, usually every few hours, but she just doesn't eat much at all anymore, she's getting about 4-5 wet diapers a day and her doctor said that was fine, she also still has orange/yellow poop but never seedy, it's just like liquid. She's just over 12lbs, she was 12.2lbs last time I weighed her, she was born 8lbs 12ozs. She was gaining weight steadily now it's seemed to slow quite a bit. I'm worried she's not eating enough, or gaining enough. Any advice?
I was like that also but baby's seem to get these patches of time then go back to normal, my baby did that and stayed at same weight for a week then went back to normal and back up the growth chart. And started feeding every two hours again. I wouldn't worry if she getting plenty of wet nappies and happy and content, is she breastfeeding well? I would suggest pumping to keep up ur supply, I had to pump whatever baby didn't finish of my milk after feeds :)
Yeah she eats really well, she never has an issue I'm just worried about how often she eats and her weight gain, she's in the 50-75th percentile so I guess I really shouldn't be worried. It just seems like she's eating less lately!
Thank you! I really need to learn to trust her new ped. I have had the same very trusted ped. since my son was first born 4 years ago and she left so now I have a new one and I'm having a hard time adjusting to a new one!
What you are describing can be very normal. I was actually told by my ped that this is very normal for BF babies. They tend to gain super fast at first and then start slowing down in terms of gaining...where they aren't gaining as fast, whereas, formula fed babies normally do the opposite. So try not to worry. Sounds like your little one is doing great :)
Really? Ohh good, I was really worried! She was 11lbs 14ozs as of the 14th of March, and now she's 12lbs 7.7ozs so she's probably going to be gaining about a pound a month, which her ped. said was okay. I just hope she gains steadily, I'm aiming for 12 months of breastfeeding so hopefully we don't have to cut it short at all!
I just did some research online after reading your post and found a LOT of credible websites says from 1-2 months they gain a good amount, then from 2-4+ months they may slow in weight and only gain between 1-2lbs a month, thank god, haha. That's exactly what's happening with me. Thank you so much!
