I am EBF my 5month old daughter, lately shes been throwing up after she eats, isn't eating very much, and is biting and pulling on my nipple..... it hurts!!!!!!!! why is she behaving like this? It's like she gets mad and rips on my nipple, I don't know why she's acting out but am continuing to bf even so. Is this happening to anyone else? ???? hm........ i thought maybe she was getting sick because she wasn't eating much and throwing up but nope...*thank goodness* the worst part is the biting and pulling. I know shes getting plenty to eat we've never had a problem before and she's 5 months....how do you know if your baby is weaning themself? prego maybe? i have no idea just seeing if others have had this problem and what it turned out to be :) thanks ~!
Try finding a quiet corner to nurse in without distraction. Burp more often. Keep her elevated for longer periods after she finishes to enable some of it to digest before laying her down.
It does pass. I used to simply end the nursing session if they continued to bite. Soon enough, they became more conscientious of it and stopped.
I was just getting ready to ask almost the exact same question. My daughter just turned six months and has been biting me for the past couple weeks. At her 4 month appt her pediatrician said she was teething and shortly after that she started to chew on everything! So i just assumed that is why she is biting me. Right now it isn't painful, but i don't want this behavior to carry over into when she actaully gets her teeth!! I have noticed it is worse when my husband is in the same room b/c she gets very distracted trying to see what he is doing. I am going to try some of Andi's suggestions, but be sure to let me know if you figure out something that works for you!
Could be gas? Thrush? Teething? Not really sure...wish I had an answer for you!
