Breast Milk Supply

Due to medical issues, I had to stop breastfeeding approx. 11 weeks ago..  I've been feeding my baby pumped milk and formula since this issue.  Is it possible to establish a  supply after this long?  I have not pumped for nearly 12 weeks.

It is possible, but you would have to start right away.  It will be a slow start and you may need some help with medication.  There are herbs you can try, oatmeal (real stuff, not instant or quick cook), a REALLY good pump (Medela like).  Pump every 2-3 hours for at least 20 minutes each time, even if you are not getting anything out.

Will your baby still latch on, even for comfort?

Is your milk still in? I had a similar problem but mine was a little different because I didn't stop pumping but my milk decreased a lot because I had to go on a business trip and could only pump about once  maybe twice a day. So for a week when I got back I started pumping every 2 hours with 2 power pump sessions a day. I also started taking fenugreek and mother's milk tea. It was a very very slow start and I though I was not going to get my milk back..I started Monday of last week I first didn't see results and was getting discourged, not to mention my niples were very sore. So I continued to pump relentlesly and ask the doc for a boost. I started taking Reglan yesterday on top of the above mentioned. This morning on my first session I pumped 3 1/2 oz....talk to your doc and know that its a long and sometimes discourageging road ahead but very worth it!! I want to breastfeed my baby till about 1 year.. Also you can see if your hospital has a "suplemental feeding kit" you put a little tube to your bood with the bottle of formula or BM  and the baby gets the bottle but stimulates your breast at the same time...killing 2 birds with one stone! Good Luck!!
