Breastfeeding an adopted infant

As most of you know, we are patiently waiting to adopt a child... My question, have any of you, or do you know of any one, who has breastfed an adopted baby... Just wondering how is all "works"... I have read online that simply using a pump a couple times of day will eventually "jump start" lactation... Then I read that meds should be taken... Any help is appreciated :o)

Could you contact a few IBCLCs in your area and see if anyone can support you through inducing lactation? Another good (and free!) resource is your nearest LLL group. :)

I would also recommend doing a web search for "The Newman Goldfarb Protocols for Induced Lactation" and "four friends adoptive breastfeeding". There is also helpful info on llli.org and kellymom.com .

Best of luck to you!
