Breastfeeding and no period

So, I have heard some women don't get their periods while breastfeeding, but it has been almost 4 months! Is this normal? I haven't seen my Dr. since my 6 week check up and at that time I was at the end of bleeding from giving birth. I'm not missing it or anything, but I still get cramps around that time and they seem to be getting worse each month. This last month I almost couldn't stand it. What do you all think? Is this normal or should I call my Dr?

Just remember you still ovulate so you can still get pregnant.

Most women do not get their period until they ween their little one

I got my period back about 6 months (but I pump and bf).  Am still breastfeeding now, and it is 16 months.
My sisters BF directly and didn't get theirs back for about 1 year.

Mind you, 2 of my sisters never got periods back, becuase they were pregnant (both > 1 year of BF before getting pregnant).

Good to know. I hope mine doesn't come back for a loooong time, but it would be nice to do w/o the PMS as well.

I didn't get my period for over a year after each of my children were born and I EBF both of them. My suggestion is.... enjoy it while it lasts :)

I would enjoy it while it lasts as Whitney said. I EBF but got my period back 11 weeks post partum and it came back as regular as ever...booo!

I'm so jealous. My baby is almost 3 months old. I bled for 5 weeks after birth and then a week after that got my period and then again 2 weeks after that got my period again! I was super bummed out especially being told by everyone that I probably wouldn't have it at all until I finished breastfeeding

It's been 7 months for me. EBF. Love it! Hoping to keep it at bay for a few more months!

I got my period about five months afterwards. I was very disappointed as I though it would last longer. Although my periods are not regular like as it was pre-pregnancy. Anybody else BF and have that same problem? I used to get them every 26 days and now every 3-4 weeks.

You will have cramping while breastfeeding, most women do. I think as far as when you get it back everyone is different (obvious by reading these comments). I got mine back 6months after having my daughter but I breastfed her until she was 14months.
Like others have said though... ENJOY IT WHILE IT LASTS :)
Congrats on your little one!
