Breastfeeding??????

I am a mother of a 2 1/2 year old and expecting my second child. I was not able to breastfeed my 1st child because my breast milk never came in. So as soon as he was born he was feed with a bottle of formula. I was wondering if there is a vitamin or something else that can help me be ready for this baby coming in september.

I nursed my son with in the first probably 45 min of his life.  I made that clear when I was in labor that I wanted to nurse as soon as possible and I was able to be with him - his bare little chest on my skin. We had blankets around us but we had 'skin to skin' contact and actually my husband did too!   That's what was recommended to me and we had success.  Good luck.

make sure the hospital is aware of your intentions to breastfeed. Honestly, i think they should've asked you. If you have a birth plan, you can include it in there. You can also make sure your significant other mentions it, in case you are a bit out of it.

Your milk doesn't actually come in until a few days after birth. Still, you produce colostrum which should be sufficient for the baby as long as it has no medical problems. Even if he medically needs a bottle, i would always put him/her to the breast first- this will help bring your milk in and keep him interested in the breast.
