Does it get better the second time around?

I did not produce much milk with my first child and I am pregnant with my second child now. I really want to breast feed, but i am afraid that I won't be able to, just like last time. Does it get any bette the second time around?

how did you know you weren't producing enough milk? we you working with a lactation consultant?

i have heard that milk supply can be different with different pregnancies. and, worst comes to worse, if you genuinely do not have a sufficient supply, you can always supplement. ANY amount of breastmilk is better than none.

there are many factors that can cause a low supply. if the latch is wrong, the suck is weak, if you supplement too early, don't nurse frequently enough, don't eat or drink enough, etc... the best way to overcome the most common causes of low supply is to educate yourself in advance, and to work with a lactation consultant in the hospital and when you get home.

you could have a completely different experience this time around :) I hope you do and all goes well....PS... if you do start to have problems or are worried about your milk supply see a lactation consultant really early on and they can help fix most situations...or if needed, just reassure you.
