Feeding too often or not enough milk?

Feeding too often or not enough milk?

Would you please tell me why my baby girl eats every hour or hour and half every other day or two? Between these days she eats every two hours and i can barely keep her from feeding to feeding. Is that my milk production not enough? My breasts are small, so i thought maybe they do not produce enough? She is 4month old, 25inches and 17lb

I know that sometimes babies will go through growth spurts and want to eat that often, that's what they told me at thehospital.  But if you are worried about your milk supply I woudl talk with a lactation consultant.  Some ways you can determine if you aren't producing enough milk is whether she is fussy after feeding and wants more.

my 8 week olds the same she is always hungry, she never fusses when outher people hod her but when i have her she roots for a nipple i think she must just smell the milk!
if she is putting on the lb's and has lots of wet nappies she should be fine!

My daughter Brooklyn is 3 1/2 months old and recently went through a sort of growth spurt where she was feeding every hour to hour and a half... If you are worried about your production you can check and see how much you're producing by giving her a bottle of expressed milk (somewhere between 2 and 4 ounces) and then pump and see what you produce... If you pump close to what she takes from the bottle than I wouldn't worry... She's either cluster feeding due to a growth spurt or comfort nursing. My son (now 4 years old) was big on using mommy as a pacifier and would root for my nipple pretty much anytime I held him... It took a while, but I eventually coaxed him into full feedings every 2-3 hours (he would fall asleep feeding and basically be "snacking" every hour or so before implementing the schedule) and got him on a flexible feeding schedule which really helped with my let down and the whole mommy as a pacifier thing...
