Hospital grade breast pump

by PamelaBee, Nov 03, 2009 03:47PM
Has anyone used a hospital grade breast pump?  What is like compared to the Medela advanced, other than more $$$?  I'm thinking of buying one, I don't want to rent one.  Please share your experiences!

I did use a Lactina through WIC many, many moons ago. It was outstanding, but at the rate my boys nursed, I never had a moment's peace. I used it for only a couple days before I was worn out. I did try to use it to develop a supply on the right side, but it never worked.

I am not sure if it is that much better than the Pump in Style or other spendy double pumps, but it is considered the best.

I work in a hospital and they provide us a large pumping room with hospital grade pumps, they are really nice but I also like my Medela Pump in Style also, the hospital pumps probably do work a little better, but not much.  I, myself wouldn't go out a buy one for the price that they are.

I actually found out they are no different than the Medela Pump in Style...the only difference is the motor is more durable, (bigger and heavier), so it can accommodate numerous users over a longer period of time.  For some reason, I thought a hospital grade pump would be able to express milk like a cow!  I thought it would suck every last drop of milk out of each boob giving you more oz's of milk than you could imagine!!
