How to produce more

I'm not breast feeding now, but plan to become pregnant soon. With my son, I was unable to produce more than an ounce (total) after pumping fifteen-twenty minutes on both sides. I tried Fenugreek supplements, and Raglan was prescribed to me. Neither helped. I am not sure if I would have the same difficulty the second time around, but I was under a lot of stress with my son, and had PPD. My husband had just deployed, and I was at home with my parents. So I'm not sure if I will have the same problem, or if since my husband is back and we are living alone with our son that I will be able to without issues. Any advice?

I am having the same trouble with my first baby.  The nurse at the school I teach at didn't breastfeed with her first baby because of stress, and then it worked out just fine to breastfeed with her second baby.  She said she was so much more relaxed!  Maybe that's all it will be for you too!

It is uncommon for a woman to be physically unable to produce enough milk. It is often external factors such as stress, depression, exhaustion, improper latch, early introduction of the bottle, etc... that actually causes a low supply. Chances are, you will be able to produce plenty, especially since your living situation will be so much better. I suggest you not use the pump as a gauge on how much milk you produce. Some women simply don't respond well to the pump. The quality of the pump can also greatly influence how much you get.
Just know that if you have any doubts or concerns when the time comes, you can always contact a lactation consultant or LLL to ensure that your baby is getting enough. A sensitive baby scale can tell you how many ounces the baby gets in a session.
