Leaking while feeding...

by Regggie, Jun 14, 2008 12:08PM
Well, in short, anyone out there have a great pad they can reccomend? When I feed on the left, the right leaks like crazy and vise versa. It's to the point that it soaks thru the pad and all over my shirt. It's really going to cause a problem one of these days, any suggestions?

Hmmm, I really liked the Kroger brand and the Gerber ones were okay.

I really like the Johnson and Johnson brand.  They are thick and shaped like the breast and not flat like many other brands.  I don't like the washable ones that you can buy because I think they are useless.  They are like any other material and will leak immediately.  Plus I don't think that they help with keeping the moisture away from your breast which can leave you raw.

I like the lansinoh ones.  They have worked great for me, and you can't see them through my shirts.  I tried avent brand before, and they worked fine, but you could see them through my shirt.  I think they were too thick.  Also, you may find that you stop leaking after several months of nursing.  I still wear pads, just in case, but I really don't leak all that much anymore.

I really like the Lansinoh ones too. And Walmart carries them so I buy the big 60 pad box at a good price there.

You may want to try pressing the inside of your forearm against the leaking breast while you are holding baby nursing on the other. My left side leaks if baby starts on the right side first, so the gentle pressure of the arm across the breast helps discourage the leaking. Best wishes!
