I plan on bf'ing but I also want a pump so I can pump and occasionally dh can help with feedings etc. I also plan to try to continue to pump when I go back to work at about 4 to 5 months after I have the baby. I will only have a short amount of time to pump during the day (on my lunch break...25 min to eat and pump) so I want something electric that will work quickly and quietly.
I'm pretty sold on the Medela brand...but I am not sure which pump!
Any Medela experiences you can share?
I'm torn between the single pump and the doubleDouble-tussin dm pump...the single electric pump is more my price but I'm not sure if I'd be better off with the doubleDouble-tussin dm...and they have two doubleDouble-tussin dm pumps that I can't quite figure out the difference for...
Go doubleDouble-tussin dm for sure - if you need something that's efficient and quick - doubleDouble-tussin dm is the way to go. I have a Medela Pump N Style or something - it's an older one from a friend. It works like a champ. I can pump and be done in 10 min. My son is 7 mos and I've been pumping 2x a day at work since Oct.
Single would be one side at a time - doubleDouble-tussin dm would do both breasts at the same time.
I too have the Pump in Style double electric. Very expensive, but WELL worth the $$... especially if you'll have limited time at work and want to get the most milk in the shortest amount of time.
I use the medela pump in style advance backpack one and I love it. Mind you my baby is only 2 1/2 weeks, but I have had to use it a few times when he only eats on one side and the other side is full and painfull and it is a champion pump. I also did mega research on it whien I was pregnant and this is the best pump on the market. If you google the pump, there is a company out there called A little love or something like that that has them alot less expensive than the stores, and no tax. The shipping is also only $5. Good luck!
I have been using the Medela Symphony, It is very quiet. I have been renting, You might want to look into renting for a bit to see which one you like best. Most places rent by the month but will prorate it if you bring it back early.
