Mothers milk tea

Has anyone used mothers milk tea?? If so did it help and how much??? My baby is 2wks old and im only able to pump 2 to 3oz every few hrs.... im unable to breastfeed so im giving him formula when i cant pump enough.... i really wanna be able to make more milk

I tried something similar...it was fenugreek and goats rue...I took it for two weeks with no difference AND I spent like $50 on it =(

I was in the same position...pumping very little or what seemed to me to be very little since we HAD to supplement with formula...

The La Leche League gave me the best support and recommended to put him to breast and even let him nuzzle, get non-nutritive suckling because that will improve your supply more than anything.  The skin to skin contact drives your hormones.  My baby and I had thrush so that was why I was pumping because nursing was just too painful.  I got treated and so did my son and we eventually just went to exclusive bf'ing.

If you don't mind me asking, why are you unable to bf?

cant get him to latch.... my nipples are pretty flat and while in the hospital the nurses had me use a breast shield. didnt help much cuz he kept falling asleep anyways... then they had me use formula also cuz they were concerned about jaundice. now hes used to a bottle and still no interest in my nipple..... so i just pump..... pretty frustrating but at least my hubby can help me feed him so i can get a lil sleep.

Lansinoh sells this thing that makes your nipples 'erect'...you could try that if you truly wanted to nurse.  Keep trying to let him at least nuzzle up to you, skin to skin.

The tea works wonders for me.  I drink 3-5 cups a day.

how long did it take until u noticed an increase in breast milk???

I drink the tea as well and it does wonders. I noticed a difference within the first hour of my first cup. I now just drink 1 cup a day to maintain supply. I use it in order to pump out more as well, so the husband can give the bedtime bottle.

I would drink a cup of tea before I pump at work and I notice a huge difference right away.  I usually get 6 ozs from one breast and 51/2 from the other.  It really help me.
