New mom

Hi there!

I just had my daughter on 4-13-09. She is very hard to breastfeed and I have had to use a nipple shield to get her to eat. We have been using that for a week now, and she seems to be getting enough. I have tried to get her to nurse without the use of it, but she just unlatches and gets frustrated.

She has an extremely high roof to her mouth and my nipple just isn't long enough to reach the top to get her nurse. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!!!

Have your worked with a lactation consultant? I'm assuming yes, since you know what the problem is. What did she have to say as far as suggestions?

i have heard some people start with the nipple shield and then remove it after a few minutes. by then, your nipple may be drawn out more.

congrats on your little one!!!!
