Okay, so I want to pump some...

I just want to pump to get a supply of milk stored so I can start doing my PartyLite biz again, which would mean McKenzi staying home with daddy for a few hours once in a while. Last time I pumped I got 3 ozs out of the right and 1 oz out of the left which I expected because my right breast has always produced more milk...if I remember right. But my question is how am I supposed to pump when McKenzi eats about every 2 to 3 hours? And sometimes I think she is done, but then she wants to eat again, which would make no sense in pumping if I am going to just be nursing her with empty breasts...ugh...I guess long story short..How do I nurse full time and still pump to build up a milk supply for if and when we decide for her to stay home with Daddy for the night?

How old is your little one?  When my babies were a few months old and started sleeping longer at night, I would pump before I went to bed knowing that I had a few hours to build up more milk before the next feeding session. Your body will then sustain your milk supply to support full time nursing plus the extra pumping session.

Hang in there. It does take a little while before your milk supply is built up enough to support both full time nursing plus pumping. Best wishes.

Hey!  I went thru the same thing when I was getting ready to go back to work.  I would pump after she ate.  Granted it wasn't much b/c she was eating mostly what I had in the breast but I did get some.  The more I did this, the more milk I made.  My DD began sleeping thru the night at about 2 weeks so I would wake up soooo full of milk that I would pump one side and let her eat off the other.  When I went back to work, I had about 20 bags in the freezer.  Give it a try and good luck!

Ya I am going through the same thing right now! DS is 7 weeks old and I am trying to build up my supply a little bit. He hadn't ate for a few hours tonight and I felt full so I just pumped and I got 4 ounces!!! I'm in shock! I still feel like I have some milk left too so he can eat soon if he needs too. I usually only get 1/2oz-1oz when I pump so I was getting discouraged with pumping but now I feel good about it! I've never had a lot of milk so if I can get 4 ounces there is hope for you too! Good Luck!
