One breast for this, one breast for that...

One breast for this, one breast for that...

I have found that my right breast is the most plentiful with breastmilk, so I usually pump from my right breast several times a day.  My left breast can't compare, but I nurse my baby from my left breast.  When I try to pump from my left breast I never seem to get more than 2oz at a time.  Does anyone else share this experience?

This is really funny I have the same issue only opposite sides. My left breast produces twice as much milk so that's the one I always pump from. However the baby hates to nurse from that side. My right breast is the one I always nurse from, but if I pump it only produces about 2 oz of milk.

Yep, same thing.  Usually I can pump much more effectively from the right.  Baby drinks from the left.  But once in a blue moon, just to throw me off my boobs swap sides, temporarily.......

But now I've candida again.  Worse on the left.... so I'm manually expressing becuase baby sucking and pumping both hurt like #*ll.

So...if I mainly pump from my right breast will my milk supply still keep up?  My left boob NEVER feels full.  I am able to express enough milk (from my right breast) for her feedings throughout the day, and I don't want her to get nipple confusion and deny the breast.

Hi,

I think as long as you keep up the demand, the supply should be fine.

Let baby suck as much as possible (compared to bottle feeding expressed milk), and from both sides.....  I find my let down is much better with her sucking one side while I pump the other (as opposed to just pumping without her sucking).

Also, now that I am 8 1/2 months into breastfeeding my breasts never feel fully (or very very rarely)..... and there is still enough milk for her.

When she nurses I only pump on the left side and I haven't noticed any drop in my milk supply. I was nursing her again this morning and I think in my case it's just that she doesn't like the left nipple. It's a little bigger and doesn't stick out as far.

I agree as long as the demand is there the supply shouldn't drop.

That's funny...  I have the same problem.  I produce more milk from my right breast and I can usually get 2 maybe 3 oz from my left breast.  However, my baby only nurses on my right breast.  I have tried many times to introduce him to my left breast but it still hurts like crazy!  If I can get him to latch on correctly though, he doesn't mind nursing from it.  More often than not, I nurse him on my right while pumping my left breast.  This is kinda nice because I can store the milk that I pump from my left breast, I now have bags full in my freezer that I am running out of room for food.  I am still hopefull that I can nurse him on my left breast in the future without pain just to make our outings easier (don't want to have to pack the pump everytime).  Anyway, I thought the reason I wasn't producing as much on my left breast is because I only pump on that side but it doesn't sound like that's the case for you.  Maybe try pumping your right breast after you feed your baby from it to increase your production?
