Ouch, ouch, ouch :(

by Girlblink182, Sep 07, 2008 10:02PM
My little guy was born 4 days ago and my milk has already come in with a vengeance. The problem is that my breasts are now super hard and my nipples seem to have become flat against the breast.  This makes it too hard for my guy to latch on and nurse.

Does anyone have any tips I can use to help soften the breast or stimulate the nipple so my baby can nurse?

TIA :)

You can pull back on your breast around your nipple to almost make your nipple pop out a little -if that makes sense.  I have one that's kind of like that.  Doing this helps.

Maybe pumping a little or manually expressing some milk before you nurse your son so your breasts aren't so full.  Good luck and congratulations!

Try pumping just a few minutes before. The engorement will go down in a few days and then it will be much easier to latch on and more comfortable too!

I agree.  Pump just a bit to bring the nipple out for baby.

If nothing else, there are these turtle shell looking things you can place on your nipple inside your bra.  Spending time with those on are supposed to help do the same thing.  You may look like Madonna with her pointy bra though!  Ask a LC about those.
