Ouch, that hurt!

My dd is 9 months old and has her bottom two teeth and is getting her top two as we speak.  Right around 6 months she did not have much interest in nursing during the day, and I have been pumping for her and nursing her right before bed.  Well, the last three nights, she has bitten me.  Not really very hard, but hard enough to make me wince, and am dreading the time that she really puts some effort behind it.  I stopped, told her no and that it hurt.  She bawled her eyes out, which made me feel bad.  I calmed her down and let her try again...we repeated that scene twice before I gave her a bottle.  Is this a phase, the teething, or is she trying to tell me that she is done?

Mine would bite when distracted for sure. I would stop the nursing session, put the breast away, and put them down to play. If they were truly hungry, they would come back and ask to nurse again. I found that keeping the distractions to a minimum was the most helpful to stop the biting.

I agree with AndiJ78, that's what I did too. Only seemed to take a few times and baby learned really quickly not to bite mommy or the milk would be put away. Still amazes me how smart those little babies are!

My dd has two teeth on the bottom and they are sharp as knives!  She tried to bite me a couple times but I just said "No no that hurts" and she really has not done it again.  One time when she bit me I was nibbling her foot trying to get her to laugh - well she smiled, chomped down and I really learned my lesson - never tickle baby when boob is in her mouth!!!!
