Periods while brestfeeding

I had my son 4 1/2 mo ago. I brestfeed mostly at night and bottlefed though the day as I had to go back to work, and never had abny luck with the brest pump.. I had my regular period last month, then this month, felt like it was gonna start ..got all the usual craps etc.. but no period.. had some gluey discharge for two days like when you lose your mucas cord but no period.. Is it normal to have period start .. then go away? I am so confused and too scared to go get a pregnancy test.. seeing as I already have 5 little ones;-) God Bless them all!! ;-) Any thoughts or experience would be apprecaited. Thanks

Hi,

the first few months period can be very irregular,so you are not necessarily pregnant..

you can either wait for your next period or you can do pregnancy test.  However, if the test comes back negative, it may be time to get some brith control happening. :)

Best wishes to you and your family.

my period didn't start until i completely weaned, but even then it was very irregular. The first came exactly 4 weeks after weaning, but the next didn't come until 8 weeks later. After that it was 6 weeks, 5 weeks, etc... It definitely takes time for hormones to regulate. After 4 or so, I finally got back to my regular cycle.
