I just read this article and didn't realize the numbers were that low of mom's the EBF until the baby's 6 months. I am so grateful for this forum and the support I've gotten on here through my own BF experiences!  Keep it up ladies!  :-)

Shocking isn't it, I wonder how the numbers would compare with us here in Germany, we are probably much lower as BF is rather negative here, and I don't understand why. People are shocked if I say I am still BF my 19 month old.

I'm so proud to have EBF for six months and blessed to be still BF! Good on us, we're doing something great for our kids :-)

good for you! You know I am 32 and my great grandparents wer kids who came over on a boat from Germany.  I am full blooded German and both sides BF their kids. I wonder what happened! That is sad and so nice to hear you are defying the odds their!

Well my MIL advocates for it in the first year but after that thinks I should stop. My SIL has issues with BF and never tried it with her two kids.

I did notice that (I don't want to sound mean and I am not intending to offend anyone, this is just what I have observed in Germany) women from a low social status or poorly educated tend to reject BF whereas women with a higher education are more accepting of BF. My parents are Mediterranean and BF is strongly supported in their culture and my German husband is thankfully very supportive. Having a supportive husband is really important too :-)

It is like that were i live, in the moutians.     I would of thought country people would be more apt to BF but they look at it as gross. It is the more educated ones that went away to college know it is better. The dr's do not even avocate for it here! I am from farm country in OH usa and they are all for it
