Had I not initiated weaning, I think CJ would still be nursing and he turned 3 last week. That boy would have nursed until college if given the chance :-)
Whineylauren...that was a great post, as well as a little funny aonly beacuse I can relate!! I am still breastfeeding my 9 month old...basically because for me, it is easier then making a bottle, I think..at this point it requires no work...I may be lucky in that respect considering that I work full time as well.....
I only feed him while I am with him, and I am not required to pump, my supply is still there for him!! So I feed him when I get home at 4:00 PM..and through the evening, then feed him at 0700 before I go to work...then Dad watches him during the day and supplements with formula.
I have noticed though, that here since he has been crawling his is less interested in eating because he wants to explore...he will suck then pull away and look at things that are going on, then eventually just want to get down...the only time that he id truly dedicated to breastfeeding is when he wakes up at night!!
my baby is 9 1/2 months and exclusively breastfed. I hope to breastfeed her as long as she wants.... hopefully 2 years. But guess it will also depend if and when i have a second baby (hoping!).
I pump / express in the morning before i go to work. Come home at lunchtime to feed her and express some more. And breast feed her directly while I'm home.
She eats food, but still prefers breast milk.
And yes, she is so interested in looking around (I call her Miss Stickybeak), that sometimes it is an effort to get her to drink enough...
My daughter turns two years old in 9 days. I guess that is when I will stop the bf. It is funny at this age because my daughter has ALWAYS been a fanatic about bf and now she verbalizes it "nummy nummy mommy milk, I like it, mmmmm" or saying "Thank you" as if I just gave her a GREAT thing by giving her milk. Too funny.
I think 2 is a good age. Also, I'm about four months pregnant so I am starting to get a little tender there and will welcome them being left alone LoL
I am currently nursing my 7 month old right now and plan to stop when he is ready. I hope it goes as smoothly as it did with my first!
