breastfeeding, ovulation

by blinka, Oct 21, 2008 03:45PM
This is probably a really dumb question.  I am not sure though.

When you are breastfeeding and your periods are very irregular (I think I am having my second-I have very light spotting, bachache) do you still ovulate on roughly the 14th day after your period?  Even when your periods are 2+ months apart?

Also, why don't some women bleed even if they are ovulating while breastfeeding?

No, it normally works that you have ovulated 14 days BEFORE the next one starts. I, for instance, usually have a 5-6 week cycle. I do not ovulate on day 14, I ovulate anywhere from day 21 to day 28.

I stand by my advice...if you are TTC, bd every other day. If your period is that irregular, it will be next to impossible to tell when you are ovulating unless you use a monitor.

Good luck!
