can I resume breast feeding after stoppage for a month?

can I resume breast feeding after stoppage for a month?

can a mother resume her breast feeding purely (only) if she has been using artificial formula for a month or 2 or 3, especially if her breasts are still excreting milk?
and if she stops artificial feeding suddenly and breastfeed her baby instead, is the baby gonna be injuried?
and how much time would she take to return back to her enough milk for baby?

My assumption is that it is very unlikely after a month you can resume breastfeeding. This is because just leaving longer gaps between feeds, like 6-7 hours, will significantly cause your milk supply to diminish, let alone leaving weeks between feeds. Your body makes milk on a supply and demand basis. A month without extracting milk will surely mean supply has all dried up unfortunately. If there was any chance it could come back, you would have to work very hard - feeding & pumping almost constantly.

it may be possible, although it would take a LOT of work to build your supply up. I actually do know someone who did this, but it was months before she could exclusively nurse again. You would have to pump and nurse constantly and continue to give formula until your supply builds up enough.

Yes, it is possible.  Do a google on relactation.

You will need to start putting the baby to your breast as much as possible.  Also would need to pump.  YOu would still need to supplement feed the baby until your milk builds up again, but you must only supplement after the baby has been offered and sucked from the breast (and if it is still hungry).

There is no way you can harm your baby by doing this.  Only benefit if the baby will take the breast and get even some milk.

Do let us know how you go.

Oh yes!! I know a woman who stopped and felt so bad after 4 months and her milk had dried up she basically locked her and the baby in a room with a small frige and she would nurse him as much as he would nurse and not give bottles until he had drained her dry. You can get a SNS I think it is called wher they nurse on you but it has a tube to yoru nipple tha gives the baby formula or BM from a pouch.

I pumped for 2 weeks to nurse a adopted baby and was geting a 1/2 once every 2 hours. Then I stopped becasue we had decided to do durgery to get pregnant becasue we wanted two and could not afford another adoption.

Oh yeah taking Fenugreek and Blessed Thistle from the vitamins at a health food store or rite aid is a must! They also have mother milk tea. It will bring it in like a flood!

Oh I had not nursed for 8 years when I got milk to come in. IT is done and can happen! The baby will love that bonding back!

Their is a medication called Ran Domperidone. This medication  tells your hormones to produce milk. 4 tablets a day for 1 month cost is $50.00 includes dispensing fee (Canada)

It is possible to still nurse, my baby is going to be 4months in two day and she's been sleeping almost through the entire night ( good 7 to 8hrs ) on average I am so full when I wake up I feed her and then pump, so to not ruin my milk supply. Your body will adjust automatically to your baby whether it's sleeping more at night or transitioning to solid foods.

I even had someone warn me about getting put on birth control, sometimes it can stop milk production she knew someone it had to and she immediately stopped taking it and her milk came back.

Anything is possible, but you would take the suggesting of nursing and pumping to get your milk supply back to where to it should be.

GOOD LUCK
