milk supply low w/10 month old

milk supply low w/10 month old

Hi!

Our daughter is almost 10 months old and breastfeeds every morning and at night before bed then gets solids and sometimes juice/formula or an occasion bf in the afternoon. Her feeding schedule has been consistently like this for a month or two now and it seems like I'm not even partically firm at her evening feeding or when I wake up. It's been like this for the past couple days and up untill this started I would be mostly firm and when I had longer days I would get to the point where it was uncomfortable and I'd need to feed her to relieve that. Has anyone else had experience with this? I really want to continue bf untill she's a year old.  Thanks!

are you sure your supply is low? I ask because as the months went on, my boobs would not feel as full or heavy but I produced the same amount. They seemed to get used to it after a while. Is she satisfied after the sessions?

Yeah they might of felt fuller while she had built you up or went longer but now that she is one a schedule and not needing more yet you may not feel that full feeling, you usually only get that of three times

1. always at the beging of staarting bf till the baby gets older, then
2. if the baby goes longer in between a feed
just one time or till your body knows to make less milk at that time
3. when your baby has built your milk supply up and you will leak or feel fuller for anywhere from a day to 4 days later. (well that time frame is for me)

As long as you continue to feed those times then you should have milk and enough milk for her. Is she seeming not as satisfied by her feeds? That is the best indication of a drop in milk.

I am now bf my 21 mo daughter. My breasts never feel full (unless I can't feed her for more than 12 hours and even then not very full), but my daughter surely gets enough milk and seems satisfied after drinking (and drinks for a long time).

Don't worry about it.  Just continue to BF her on demand and to enjoy the process.

I've never really felt firm either, unless I go for hours without her feeding. (like 16 hours) I was told once a routine is established that your breasts will no longer feel as full and heavy, but this doesn't mean you have a low supply. Does baby seem unsatisfied after eating? If not, then it's not likely you would have a low supply.
