pumping and teas

How long do you have to pump to see a increase in milk and has anyone heard anything bad or good about mothers milk tea and how long for it to work?

I drank a lot of Mother's Milk tea when nursing, and liked it very well, and it seemed to increase my supply somewhat.  Also a lot of non-alcoholic beer (if you drink this, it's very important that it be non-alcoholic).  There is also a medication prescribed by some doctors that is said to increase your milk supply.

the best way to increase your supply is to nurse more,  pumping is not as effective-but needed whn you are looking to store breast milk.
fennugreek is the active herb in the tea and definitely can help some women

I haven't taken or drank anything but I pump immediately after nursing each time as well as once during the night while she's still sleeping. I've noticed my supply increasing as of this week.

Hey sister, like mentioned above by happynifer, the best way to increase your supply is to nurse more. You said the pump is not yours but don’t worry. You can hand express the milk after feedings as well to increase your milk supply. Whether it be by hand expression or pumping, you want to do it until the last drop is seen and thereafter for at least two minutes so that you can be sure you are fully emptying the breasts. Making sure you are fully emptying the breasts at every feeding or expression is extremely important to establish milk supply.

The tea may or may not help. I believe it does from my own experience, but that may have been just because I seem to relax while drinking hot tea. (Relaxation stimulates milk ejection reflex/"let down") Either way, I hope this helps.

Best wishes,

Yes definitely! Cluster feedings are time consuming, but fortunately temporary. :) (thank goodness)

I have tried just about everything. The best one I have used has been Breastea from breastea.com. Plus it cheap.

Something that has helped my milk supply is eating oatmeal every morning. I had read that in  a breast feeding book and tried it. On days that I eat it, I can store and extra 5 oz in the freezer. It makes a big difference. I also drink Mother's Milk tea but I think the oatmeal helps more. Good luck!

I drank alot of mother's milk tea, or fennel and anise and malt-based drinks (such as non-alcoholic Malt beer or Ovolmaltine) are also good in boosting the supply.
