when will my supply steady out?

hi every one im new to breast feeding so really wanting some advice... my daughter is 8 days old now and feeding seems to be going ok apart from im waking up through night completley soaked in milk its that bad im having to put tea towels and nappys down my bra to try absorb all the milk my daughter only weighed 6lb 6oz so her belly is not big enough yet to take all the milk im producing i have been advised to keep waking her every 3 hours through day to make sure shes getting enough milk but i was just wondering will my flow adjust and if so how long will it take as my breast get really hard will they always stay like this?? Also when i get my breast out to feed her my nipples seem to squirt every where is this normal? i would really appreciate some advice thanks

All of this is normal and the let down you ahve while sleeping could mean she is needing more at night. I used to soak through like that all the time!!! After a month  if you still do it I would say you need to try feeding from one side. But I will say that at 6lbs she shoudl be eating way more often then that through the day!!!! That is small and she might just be to sleepy to wake up and know she is hungry. Very common with smaller babies! Your spraying is your let down and that is very normal and just be glad you ahve a great milk supply!!!! Mine that was 6lbs well 6lbs 13 oz would eat at 7:00am then be awake and eat in an hour or so to go to tsleep then eat in 2 hours upon waking. So he would go 2 hour streches when napping but always eat more when awake. I would feed him 3 hours through the night if he made it that long. Breast milk is thinner then formula and digests faster! So it si way digested by that time. Most babies go longer times when they are older say around a month or two.
