will it ever stop hurting?

I've been bf'ing almost 2 weeks and it is excrutiating, toe curling!  I've met with three lactation consultants who have said there is nothing I am doing wrong but my son has a short tongue and also likes to grind his gums on my nipple like a little saw!  He latches great but gets his gums going and it is soooo painful.  Will it ever stop hurting...I am at the point where i HATE nursing and dread it!  I know this is not healthy...I did stop for a bit because my nipples had scabs so I pumped for like 2 days to have a break but it seemed like i just couldnt pump enough so we had to supplement with formula...but it seems like he pukes after each formula feed and get gassy and it looks like he is really uncomfortable.....help!

I was only able to nurse off of one breast, so this likely sped up the process, but it took about a week of nursing around the clock for my nipple to adapt. I,too, had bleeding and a cracked nipple with all three. Invest in some Lanisoh, make sure you wash your nipples with warm water after each feed to get the saliva off. Air dry. Apply lanisoh after each feed. Expose your nipples to the air when possible.

And most important....get your latch evaluated by  lactation consultant.

My 3 month old daughter had a "lazy latch" which caused cracked and bleeding nipples. I consulted with 2 lactational consultants and decided that pumping was going to be the best option for both of us. My 1st week of pumping was a little rough but I stuck with it and it's been great ever since. Try to stick to a semi strict time frame of when you pump and it will help "train" your body to let down easier... Good luck with everything... Breastmilk is best but it shouldn't be excruciatingly painful... Do what's best for YOU and YOUR BABY  :)
