my daughter when she was born they thought had hipHip joint replacement Hip pain dysplasia but has since been cleared. But now she wont nurse on that side of her body. So what positions can I use. and has this ever happened to any of you?
didn't exactly happen like that, but dd has trouble latching on one side because of my nipple. since she has trouble with the angle from cradle hold, i use the football hold on that side because she approaches the nipple from the other side. This hold would put pressurePressure ulcer on the other side of her body.
I would try football, cross cradle, and side-lying to see what works best.
If it helps, all three of my boys nursed on only 1 side the entire time they all breastfed. My right breast did not function and therefore they did all of their nursing from the left. They all nursed without supplementation over 1 year and were huge babies.
Try to get her satiated by allowing her to start on the favored side to prevent her from getting overly frustrated and then put her to the less favored side and see how she does.
You can also use pillows to supportSupport Support 500 her so that she is lying in her preferred position, even while she is nursing on the opposite breast.
