Hi would just like to reply to anyone who asked if clomid does work and my answer is YES.
i have pcos and the only way for me to ovulate is to take clomid but beforehand to take provera to start my cycle.
i was prescribed clomid the first cycle been 50mcg which didnt work for me, then the second cycle 100mcg was successful.
unfortunately it ended in a late miscarriage deccember 2009.
6 months later i was prescribed clomid again and concieved on the first cycle of 50mcg,
and now we have a perfectly beautiful healthy baby girl.
gl to you i will keep my fingers crossed that it works for you too, just remember all good things come to those that wait (we had been ttc for 4 n half yrs)

I took clomid 50 mg on days 5-9 and I got pregnant on my first round of it. I do ovulate on my own but the dr said I probably just needed a boost since I am older. I think your chances are really good. Don't give up. I also hear that intercourse is as good as IUI. So get busy! Lol

Your first question is tough to answer because without monitoring your cycle with either opk's or temping or u/s it is hard to know when clomid will make you ovulate. I took clomid during my IUI cycle cd5-9 and only knew that it pushed back my ovulation by one week because the doctor was monitoring by u/s. I normally ovulate around cd16 and on clomid I ovulated on cd23. I believe most women will still ovulate somewhere around cd16, for some reason my body just reacted funny to it. From just taking clomid it will help you get pregnant if you are not ovulating because it helps make you ovulate and helps regulate your cycle. For some one like me who ovulates regularly on their own, just taking clomid probably wouldn't help much, I needed the IUI because somehow the sperm just wasn't getting to the egg properly. Good luck, I hope you catch that egg this cycle.
