Complex mass

Hello -
I recently read a similar question regarding a lump in hte region of the upper thigh near the groin area.  My question however is this: the one I have has been diagnosed as:" a complex mass seen in the medial aspect of the thigh measuring 3.1x2.4x2.6cm. This has high vascular flow around this lesion."  This is a result from the ultrasound. A visit to the pathologist determined it to be a tumor and surgery for its removal is in 5 days.
My question - could this be just a fatty tumor - or a harmless lipoma? I ask because my lump is NOT soft, not moveable and not visible to the eye - that is - you cannot notice it on the skin - it is deeper. I discovered it quite accidently.  It has never moved from its location - only grown a bit. Palpatation of it usually causes it to ache a bit afterwards.  The pathologist nixed a recommended MRI and jumped straight to surgery.
My question - what does the high vascular flow mean? Since the lump is hard and unmoveable, does this exclude it from being a harmless fatty lipoma?  I'd appreciate all answers as I'd rather be educated before surgery on what to expect.

Thank you so much.

Thank you for your response.  Unfortunately, my pathologist did NOT do an MRI and surgery is now complete. The tumor is removed and i was told it was about the size of a large egg.  That is all i know since I never saw him before or after surgery and the nurses ( of course) knew nothing more. I have a follow-up in 2 days to remove the tube that is stitched in for draining. I hope the results will back by then.  I can walk pretty well so I am assuming a muscle group was not removed.

Thank you again for your response.

I agree with the advice to have an MRI and to have a biopsy or surgical removal with the symptoms you describe.

The type of surgery performed will depend on the results of the MRI.  If you have a sarcoma (cancer)

YOu will need to have more extensive surgery with a muscle group removed.  More details are not possible because I do not have enough information or the MRI results.

Take care
