Esophagectomy

I have been diagnosed with squameous cell carcinoma in the middle esophagus. It is very early stage. I have been seen by the Tumor Board at Stanford and they have recommended a Transhietal Esophagectomy to remove the entire esophagus. I have also found another procedure called Endoscopic Mucosal Resection. I am trying to decide which is the best procedure to insure removal of all the cancer. What are the pros and cons of each.
