swoll abdomen

My 16 year old male cat has a swollen abdomen. Vet says possible cancer. Could it be anything else?

Sure, it can be a number of other conditions. Cancer is a possibility, not a certainty.

X-rays and an ultrasound would be indicated.

In my area, specialists in internal medicine do ultrasounds. You might want to discuss a referral with your vet.
