6 year old with brain tumor

by sfountain, Nov 04, 2009 04:11PM
My 6 year old son was diagnosed with a brain tumor last week.  So far I have gotten NO ANSWERS.  Today the neurosuregeon said they don't want to operate at this time due to the risk and have decided to watch it for growth and rescan his brain and scan his spine to look for more tumors in the next few weeks.  Is this normal??????  They aren't telling me what the type is, if its benign or malignant - nothing.  They just want me to wait.  I have gotten conflicting information everytime I talk to the neurologist and neurosurgeon and its driving me crazy.  Yes, people can live with brain tumors, but what is the risk to my son?????  Is it worth risking the wait to see what happens?????

I've contacted another cancer center for a second opinion but i don't know how long it will take to get in there. I need answers please!!!!!!
