Aromasine

My doctor prescribed Aromasine for 5 years. No tamoxifen. I had a mastectomy for T2N0M0 breast cancer. I had Taxotere chemiotherapy 4 sessions after that, and now he prescribed Aromasin for 5 years. Can Aromasine be taken alone ? In which cases ? I read everywhere Aromasin should be taken after 3 years of Tamoxifen. But my doctor gave me Aromasin alone.
Very confusing.
