Beer and chemo

My mother had cancer removed from her colon in Jan 2010, in May 2010 she was diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer in her liver.  She was given 2 to 6 months without chemo and 1 to 2 years with chemo.  She is 50 years old.  She is getting chemo treatments but continues to drink lots of beer and eat very little.  Does the beer prevent the effectivness of the chemo?

I say let her do what makes her happy for the amount of time she has left.  My sister had Stage IV cancer that had spread to her lung and liver and she smoked her "weed" and cigarettes until the day she died.  At this point in person't life, they should be able to choose how they want to live out the time they have left.  Just my opinion.

I have seen patients with this advance staging have the mindset to do what they want still; do what they enjoy, etc. even though it might not be the best thing to do.  It might not make any sense to us, but when a person is faced with his/her mortality, it is a DIFFERENT story for him/her.

How many beers is she drinking per day?  "Alot" is very subjective.
