Bone Marrow

My brother is very sick, he's having a bone marrow test done, he either has lymphoma or leukemia.

I was wondering, if his blood type is O, and I'm AB+ can I donate my marrow to him???  I'd give him anything.

I've never seen him look so sick in 40 years.

Im so sorry about your brother. I would ask the doctor if your blood type matches his. Im not sure. I hope everything goes well with your brother.  Keep me posted.

Bone marrow compatibility is based on HLA (human leukocyte antigen) type. Your brothers hematologist will be able to tell you, after a simple blood test, if your bone marrow is compatible with his.
Hope every thing works out well for you folks.

My fiance has ALL (Acute lymphoblastic leukemia) and is AB+ blood type. Perhaps you are a bone marrow match for my fiancee. Would you be willing to find out? I also have a simple logical question for everyone. Why does the oncologist want to start chemo before securing a bone marrow match? If we cant find a match, then why have bothered with chemo?
