Color of phlegm

My husband is not feeling well and has cough that is producing white and yellow phlegm.  I have never seen this before and am concerned what may be causing this white color.

Has anyone ever heard of this? And if so do you know why?

I had colored phlegm. Mine was green, yellow. I never had white, but I never really looked. I was put on an anti biotic to clean up the phlegm, then a puffer(steroids) to clear up the congestion and cough.If this does not work they may suggest a CT of the Lungs to see where the problem really is. I'm not a doctor, but I do think the anti biotics and steroids may clear it up. Best of luck. I'll  say a prayer.
