Cyber Knife for Stage IV Colon Met to Lung

Cyber Knife for Stage IV Colon Met to Lung

My husband was diagnosed with colon Cancer in Feb 2007. He took chemo drug Xeloda and had standard radiation. During a check up in January 2008, tumors were found in his lungs- one in each lung, sizes: 7mm and 13mm. He took chemo:  Folfox, Avastin, Oxaliplatin, and Xeloda until April 2008. The April CT scan revealed that the tumors had grown slightly and that there were four more small nodules visable. He discontinued Chemo and chose alternataive therapy with High Dose Vitamin C, and B17, changed his diet, and had some blood boosters. In August a new CT showed the good news that no new tumors were visable, but that the primary tumors were slightly larger. We beleive that if the tumors could be removed from his lungs that the immune system could better help him fight off any new tumors. Will pin point radiation using Cyber Knife Treatment to a tumor in his lung help my husband?

Hello...I have researched the cyberknife.  You can google the word and it should bring you to their website and others who have done the treatment.  I have Ovarian Cancer and had two small spots that I thought the cyberknife could take care of.  Well, it can!  The downside is my insurance company won't cover the cyberknife unless I do conventional radiation instead.  That is not a good radiation for ovca.  So I'm relying on Chemotherapy. There are great radiation treatments available for colorectal cancer mets.  I found a great one for liver mets from colorectal cancer that is FDA approved. It is called SIRT.  I suggest you find a forum that is only for colorectal cancer.  You can google that too.  With the cyberknife I found that it all depends on the size of the tumor.  Also it depends on how aggressive the radiologist is. It varies.  I hope there is one nearby. ...Hope this helps...

Medhelp has a colon cancer forum.  Though they have not been posting in the past week or so, 2 doctors are members and frequently answer questions on that forum.  I'd try posting the Cyberknife question there, perhaps you'll get more info that way.  Good luck to you and your husband.
