Our daughter was treated 22 years ago for an ependymoma. She had surgical removal of most of the tumor, radiationCystitis - noninfectious Radiation therapy treatment to the whole brain with a boost to the tumor site because a remnant had been left under the brain stemStem cell research because it was considered inoperable. She also received 7 rounds of chemotherapy including Cisplatin and VincristineVincristine Vincristine sulfate and something else I can't remember right now. She's done well until about a year ago when she began having very mild seizures. We've seen a neuro-oncologist and epilepsyEpilepsy Epilepsy - resources Treatment of epilepsy specialist, and think her care is superb. Now she is beginning to be forgetful, and intermittently confused for brief episodes. The neuro-oncologist believes this is a form of early dementiaAlzheimer’s disease Dementia Multi-infarct dementia Pick’s disease, started her on Aricept, and we will be seeing a behavioral neurologist in about 8 weeks. Does our approach sound reasonable, or is there anything else I should do? Can you give me any idea about what we're facing ahead of us?
