Extreme pain after Bone Marrow Biopsy.

Extreme pain after Bone Marrow Biopsy.

Hi!
I had a bone marrow biopsy on friday for consistent leukopenia in my blood work. The actual examination was not painful at all!  And since then, the pain and soreness had steadily decreased until last night.  Since yesterday evening, pain got really intense.  I have really, really bad pain now in my hips, mostly on my right side where the biopsy was.  The pain hurts all the way down to my right knee at the joint.  It has kept me from sleeping but a few hours.  Over the counter medicine has provided little relief.

Im a little concerned about infection.  What are the signs of infection after a bone marrow biopsy?

Hi.  You may be right. That pain may be a sign of an infection in the biopsy site, particularly if there is associated swelling and redness around the biopsy area.  I think you should see a doctor promptly about this problem and not try to self-medicate.
