FNA Results?

FNA Results?

I have a thyroid nodule that showed on an ultrasound on my right lobe.  Also 2 nodules on the left lobe which were 4 x 15 mm and 5 x 9 mm which sonographer noted may be lymph nodes. I had an FNA on the right nodule and dr noted to biopsy the left lobe nodules if the radiologist thought necessary.  He did not biopsy them.  Pathology report came back "no malignant cells" but dr said it does shows "Herckel" cells (sorry - dont know spelling or what that means) which are abnormal cells? I am to have 2 ultrasound this afternoon to re-look at lymp nodes.  Then a possible referal to a surgeon.  My bloodwork shows my TSH above normal and my thryoid medication has been increased (I have been hypothyroid for several years)  I do notice hoarseness in my voice and sometimes uncomfortable feeling in my throat - not pain but a feeling of fullness or tenderness, particulary at night time when I am lying down.  I have stiffness in the back of my neck, which I assumed was arthritis in my neck, but now wonder if this is related?
My question is what are Herckel cells? and what are they looking for on the 2nd ultrasound? Any comments/enlightening would be appreciated - I am quite confused and worried.

I had a FNA about 3 years ago on a 2.6 cm. nodule.  It showed Hurthle cells as well.  It is my understanding that Hurthle cells can be either malignant or benign, but there is no way to really know without taking out half or the entire thyroid to examine it.  I too have pressure when laying down at night, and also have occasional "whistling" in my throat as if the weight of the thyroid is restricting my airway.  My doctor has been doing ultrasounds to see if it is growing, and recently sent me for a CT scan of the neck which shows I have calcifications in the thyroid and adenopathy.  (I got my CT report from the hospital.... My doctor hasn't called me about this yet, so I'm not sure if this is anything to be concerned about.) .  I also have problems in the back of my neck, but mine is due to arthritis.  Take care.
